SCAN. EXPLORE.
UNDERSTAND.

A contactless museum experience reveals the anatomy, behaviour and environmental importance of the Italian honey bee.

Developed for Città della Scienza, Il mondo segreto delle api uses edutainment to highlight the essential role of bees in agriculture, biodiversity and ecological balance — and the pressures pollinators face today.

A large-format LCD screen invites visitors into the experience without requiring shared controls. After scanning a QR code, each person uses a WebApp on their own phone to select and manipulate the content displayed in the exhibition.

Visitors can examine the anatomy of the Italian honey bee, compare the roles of the worker, queen and drone, and look inside the wider world of the hive. A dedicated interaction explains the waggle dance and how bees communicate the direction and distance of food, water or potential nest sites.

Realistic 3D models and animation bring the insects closer without losing scientific clarity. The result combines accessible interaction, strong visual storytelling and environmental awareness in an experience designed for discovery at every age.
